I have been wondering What is love and How to love for a very long time ever since i was a young girl. This wisdom quote says it best:

A bell is no bell til you ring it,
A song is no song til you sing it,
And love in your heart
Wasn’t put there to stay -
Love isn’t love
Til you give it away.
~Oscar Hammerstein, Sound of Music

In compiling and writing this book, I hope it will light up your life and bring more love into your life.

NOTE: this book will constantly be updated with more love tips and love quotes.

In relationships, that thing is your ego.

Think about how many times a day you close yourself off from other people because you refuse to let go of pride, whether it’s doing something nice for your spouse or speaking to a stranger at the bus stop.

There are risks involved in opening up your heart and letting go of ego – you could be rebuffed by that stranger, or your spouse might not appreciate your kindness – but by remaining closed off from the possibilities that can come from life you’re living in a small world with little chance for growth or adventure.

People are always writing to advice columns or reading self-help books to try and discover how they can be more popular or get someone to love them.

The answer is simple – be open to love.

If your every waking thought is about yourself and you have a layer of protective armor to keep from getting hurt, then no one will ever be able to love you. There’s simply no room.

If your head and your heart are filled to the brim with thoughts and feelings about yourself, how can anyone else fit?

As important as it is to have a healthy ego, we can also allow ourselves to be controlled by our fears and our needs to the extent that we have nothing left to give anyone else.

Think about how often someone else “made you angry” – and now realize that no one ever makes you feel anything, because the responsibility for your feelings lies entirely within you.

The same goes for being afraid, or mistrustful, or bitter. We often make ourselves feel these things by hanging onto our egos with such ferocity that we’re blinded to any other possibilities, and we limit ourselves by falling back on these same reactions that we’ve had since childhood.

Your ego and your will are closely related, and your view of the world around you – including other people – is colored by ego.

Your ego tells you how you should behave based on past experiences, which means that when you allow ego to take the driver’s seat you’re always looking at a distorted picture of the world that’s colored by fear, one ion which virtually everything is either good or bad, with no in-between.

But if you set aside ego and open your heart and your soul to new possibilities, you can see a world that’s not black and white at all, but one with infinite variety, one in which there’s room for love, kindness and success.

Your heart and your mind are, in a way, like the attic in your home.

You need to store things there, of course, but if you cram it too full of old junk that isn’t of any use to you any more, there’s no room for anything new. So let go of ego, clean out your  attic and open your heart – a world of possibilities await you.
